A full, individual, diagnostic identification of dyslexia and/or dyscalculia consists of 3 main steps;
Step 1 - Background Information.
Background discussion and initial questionnaires are completed to collect all relevant background information. (We also include education settings in this process as much as possible).
Step 2 - Face to Face Assessment.
This takes around 3 hours to complete (with small breaks as needed).
A joint assessment for both dyscalculia and dyslexia will take around 4 hours.
We use only standardised tests recommended by the SASC (Specific Learning Difficulties Assessment Standards Committee).
Step 3 - The Report.
We aim to have the completed report to you within 3 weeks of the assessment date.
At Highlands Dyslexia we hold an Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) which is required to complete a valid identification for pupils who are studying outside of Scotland. This means that a young person in the English exam system or planning on attending an English funded Higher Education / College or University course can use their dyslexia report anywhere in the UK.
