Dyslexia and/or Dyscalculia Assessments

 Full Diagnostic Assessments
Concerned about your child (or your own) academic progress and wondering if it might be dyslexia or dyscalculia?
Wanting to unpick and understand, individual strengths and how to support areas for development?
Looking for a professional identification which is approved by both Dyslexia Scotland and the British Dyslexia association?
We can help.

We are qualified to complete a full, individual, diagnostic assessment and an in-depth and detailed report which formally identifies dyslexia and /or dyscalculia.

Whatever age the assessment is completed at, it will continue to be a relevant document for life. Our assessments can be used in Higher/Further education to apply for 'Disabled Student Allowance' funding across the UK.
A diagnostic report of dyslexia or dyscalculia can be used to provide evidence of the need for additional support at school, in exams, at university or college and in the workplace.

Tuition

Specialist Individual Tuition
We currently offer tuition to individual learners from our base in Lossiemouth but can also offer tuition online as needed.

Our tuition is bespoke and tailored to support individual learning. Tuition sessions last for up to 1 hour but this can depend on individual concentration spans! We aim to build a flexible programme based around the individual learner's needs. The first hour is an initial consultation and assessment session.

Sessions follow 'good practice' guidelines for learners with dyslexia or dyscalculia, they are multi-sensory, systematic and allow for over-learning of information to support the working memory.

Vicki
"Welcome to Highlands Dyslexia. I am a fully qualified Specialist dyslexia and dyscalculia teacher and assessor. I am an Associate Member of both the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA) and the Specific Learning Difficulties Assessment Standards Committee (SASC). I am also a registered member of, and approved assessor for, @DyslexiaScotland.

In addition to this I hold an Advanced Practising Certificate (APC).
I have worked in education (as a teacher and as a headteacher) for many years in both mainstream and special school settings.
I have a passion for unpicking individuals and their needs and learning differences. I enjoy supporting learners to overcome their barriers to learning, especially those with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs), such as dyslexia."

"I am qualified teacher who has been working in education for over 10 years in a variety of roles - classroom teaching, supply teaching, tutoring and in boarding houses. I have also worked with many pupils who have English as an additional language (EAL).
I have taught in both Scotland and England and have worked throughout the primary and secondary age range.
More recently I have spent two summers working as an academic co-ordinator at a well respected international summer school.
I really enjoy tutoring children with a specific learning need and like the chance to create bespoke learning opportunities whilst building confidence and supporting success."

We are both fully police checked and hold current PVGs.
